My Doula Trainer
All my life, I’ve been a teacher. Whether in a classroom or in my birth work, I’ve naturally fallen into the role of mentor: guiding, encouraging, and holding space for growth. My quiet confidence and lifelong curiosity have shaped the way I show up in every part of my work. I don’t pretend to have all the answers, and I certainly don’t have it all figured out. But I do believe in the power of learning together.
When I first became a doula, I didn’t set out to become a trainer. My focus was on supporting families, one birth at a time; helping them feel informed, grounded, and capable as they navigated one of life’s biggest transitions. Over time, I noticed something: new doulas would reach out to me with questions. They wanted to learn, to understand the how and why of doula work.
I realized that my mentorship was making a difference. Not only for the doulas I was guiding, but for the families they went on to serve. That’s when the spark to train others truly ignited. Teaching doulas isn’t just about passing on skills; it’s about shaping a new generation of birth workers who can step into birth spaces with compassion, professionalism, and respect.
I created My Doula Trainer (first as an Instagram account, and now as this website) because I wanted people curious about doula work to see what it really looks like: the heart, the grit, the joy, and the reality. Social media lets me share bite-sized encouragement, real-life insight, and reminders that doula work is both an art and a skill. This website gives me a place to go deeper: to shed light on trainings, resources, and a glimpse into the depth of this work.
For me, training doulas isn’t just about passing on skills. It’s about shaping the future of birth support, one grounded, compassionate, collaborative professional at a time. And it’s about reminding every new doula that they’re not alone. My hope is that whether you’re here as a brand-new doula, a seasoned birth worker, or someone simply curious about this path, you’ll feel welcome. You’ll find honesty here. You’ll find encouragement. You’ll find the tools you need to step confidently into your own role, knowing that you don’t have to have it all figured out to make a real difference.
This is my journey. And now, I’m here to walk alongside you in yours.
